The ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) is a sailing rally (what I like to call safety in numbers...) organised by the World Cruising Club that brings together circa 200 yachts to cross the Atlantic from Las Palmas Grand Canaria to St Lucia in the Caribbean Islands. On the 24th November we leave the Canary Islands, ending up in the Caribbean hopefully 3 weeks later (wind and weather dependent) The week before we leave the WCC sponsors rigorous safety checks, training sessions and of course a few parties! In April we received our ARC flag, which all participants fly, and shared it with our faithful crew Jane & Peter Stephens in Cornwall, then hoisted it on Hawkeye in Sanremo.

In 2019 Yacht Hawkeye will be starting her world circumnavigation. This blog will track our journey!

We start our journey by leaving Sanremo, Italy, our home port, which we just did on Monday, and we will cruise the Mediterranean for the last time for a long time this summer. We head over to the Balearic Islands in September, down the Spanish coast in October, and leap from Gibraltar to the Canary Islands in November and cross the Atlantic on 24th November with The ARC. And from there, the world!

Yacht Hawkeye-this gorgeous cat is taking us round the world!
